The Arroyo Park, now renamed Guy J. Tedesco Park, started out as a storm water mitigation project. With the addition of new landscaping and features like the freestyle BMXpark, splash pad, basketball courts, and shade structures, the Guy J. Tedesco Park has developed into the most used public space in the City of Desert Hot Springs.
Water Wise Landscaping
In the Southwestern United States, population pressures and droughts have both public and private land managers turning to more water wise landscape solutions. In addition to the new detention basin that returns storm water to the local aquifer, we conserved water resources by replacing turf in non-playing field areas with native and drought tolerant plant material, and by irrigating with water saving Rainbird Xerigation® technology. The Guy J. Tedesco Park is a good example of the future of water wise park design.
Charles designed and provided the City with construction management support for the following features in their new seven acre park: The Desert Hot Springs Freestyle BMX Park, new parking lot and walking paths, basketball courts, teen center plaza and amphitheatre, shaded picnic areas, splash pad, tot lot, and hydro-seeded storm water detention basins.
